What is it?

The aim of the R21 project was to create a more stylish facelift of the R20 (found: here). Both vehicles use the same chassis, but the R21 has had many changes under the bonnet to tune its driving characteristics. The original R20 was a fast car, but could be a spiky to drive on the limit; the R21 has more balanced and predictable handling on the limits of grip and is less likely to snap away from the driver. This is due to revised springs, dampers, suspension geometry, and wheel geometry.

There are many variants of the car included within the mod, including 4cyl and 6cyl options, as well as an off road and monster truck variant for good measure. These versions tone down the realism in favour of providing a fun vehicle to drive for each driving situation.

The Raven R20 was the first BeamNG vehicle released to feature an interactive digital display, with the ability to zoom the map, time your laps, and change drive modes from the dashboard. The R20 was originally released in January 2020 and has been maintained so it still functions in the latest updates of the game.

The physics skeleton

The R21 features an advanced physics skeleton that simulates the entire vehicle with softbody physics. This ensures that its chassis dynamics and crash physics are simulated, for example removing and adding the hardtop roof affects the chassis stiffness and can be felt in how the vehicle drives.

The scenarios

The R21 also includes 3 exciting scenarios that each provide a unique challenge across tarmac, dirt, and dune surfaces. Each scenario modifies existing game levels with added scenery to create new challenges.
